Copy AI vs Jasper: Which AI is Better? (Review)

Reading Time: 5 Minutes

Which is more of a friend to content creators? Jasper or Copy AI? Who has better marketing materials? Who’s better for beginners? Which price is right?

I’ve used both Copy AI and Jasper. I’ve even evaluated them carefully for the purposes of reviewing them.

If you’re interested, here’s my review of Copy AI and here’s my review of Jasper.

But how do they stack up against each other? Which one, as someone who knows them quite well, would I actually recommend?

Let’s start with their similarities. They both aid in content creation and creating marketing materials for businesses. They both have templates that speed up the process of creating a particular product (such as email copy or a blog post).

But here’s where they start to deviate.

Copy AI vs Jasper: Fixer Upper vs Complete Product

Copy AI has probably dozens of different templates to help content creators and businesspeople. But it asks you to create a complete prompt YOURSELF before it spits out a result. And if you’re not skilled at creating prompts the result can be, well: basic. As in, generic-like-you-wouldn’t-believe.

Now, if you figure out how to increase the style of the writing so that it’s not boring than it can be a very good service. But you have to use AI or your own personal judgement to increase the excitingness of the tone of the writing. But if you can do that it’s golden.

Can you guess why? Because Copy AI is generic, it will include enough of the basic ingredients to nail the formula of your type of copy (like a blog post, or a sales email). You’ll have all the main ingredients and your improved writing style (which YOU include) will add the spice.

But Jasper still wins this category. Jasper actually guides you through the creation of the copy step by step. And it’s not reliant on you having expert prompting skills. It will ask FOLLOW UP questions to get any detail you might have missed along the way.

And the output has TONE and human emotions in it. The blog posts it creates actually sound good and human and, well, stylish. The stuff Jasper puts out is imminently readable.

But here’s where Jasper loses me.

This wouldn’t be a fair review of Copy AI vs Jasper if I left this out. Jasper is behind a HEFTY paywall. You get a free trial that lasts about a week, maybe makes you fall in love (a little bit) and then it insists that you pay $59 a month for its paid version.

Now, if you’re running a business $59 is not a hefty business expense. You may even find it worth it if you like its results and it saves you a lot of time. As we all know, time is money. But a lot people would not be willing to pay that much when there’s other AI doing something similar for ZERO cost.

Copy AI vs Jasper: Free vs Paid

One of those free tier AI’s? Copy AI. Copy AI offers ALL of its content for free. There’s a limit to how you can use it every day but if you’re a solo content creator or small businessperson, you’ll only be interested in the paid tier if you create things in bulk. Which many people don’t.

And if you’re interested in the paid version, their medium tier plan for Copy AI is $36 a month. Which is still MUCH less than Jasper. But to some people these distinctions don’t matter. They have money in their wallet. They’re willing to pay for comfort and familiarity and something that WORKS.

Jasper works.

There’s no need to fix up anything in Jasper’s output. And you can work in bulk with Jasper. You can’t work in bulk on Copy AI. Not in the free tier.

If you’re working in bulk you’re going to need to pay for a service anyway. I have never seen an AI that doesn’t place a charge for using its service in bulk.

Can we just talk about FUN for a moment?

Using AI in general is a pretty refreshing experience after getting used to the “old fashioned” style of writing. But Copy AI can be pretty frustrating. Using its template, it can take a few minutes to generate a result and when it does, it’s pretty generic and uninspiring.

Jasper locks into what you’re interested in right away and very quickly generates something you like.

What You Might Use Copy AI For

Copy AI can be used to generate email communications and sales content (copy). If you can use a good humanizer (I recommend one here) you can have a go-to copywriting engine for all of your content and copy needs. It’s not recommended to create in bulk if you find using a humanizer to be hassle that’s not worth the time it takes.

What You Might Use Jasper For

Jasper can also be used to generate content and copy for content creators or business owners. It may be annoying to produce things in bulk if you find the follow up questions and back and forth chatter to take more time than it’s worth.

Conclusion

If you want something that works “right out of the box” then I’d recommend Jasper AI. As long as you can afford the cost.

I suggest you check out the free 7-day trial if you find it intriguing. Be sure you’re available to try it out that week because after that, it will never be free again and you’ll have to pay $59 for the privilege of using it just one more day.

I sound negative. I don’t mean to be negative. Paying is less exciting than enjoying free AI but some people really don’t mind paying less than $100 a month towards a business expense. Not for bootstrappers though.

If you want a fixer upper: Copy AI is your match made in heaven. I don’t think that having to use a humanizer is that big a deal. But admittedly, if I wasn’t bootstrapping my business I would definitely pony up the $59 for the convenience of using Jasper and not needing any extra steps.

So, there you have it. Jasper is better but Copy AI works. And, well, it’s still better than doing your own writing if you don’t have copywriting experience.

Good luck out there. Love,
